Badminton Asia's token of appreciation for big contributions
The hugely successful Wuhan City of Automobile Badminton Asia Championships in Wuhan which ended in the Chinese city on Sunday is now graded BWF Grade 2, Level 4 tournament, previously known as Super Series.
The immense growth of the Badminton Asia Championships would not have grown into this status if not for the huge contributions from the sponsors and the local authorities and other sports bodies.
Also not forgetting the court officials and other officials who played a key role in ensuring the success of the championships.
The Badminton Asia Championships has established itself as a world-class tournament that draws the best badminton talent in the world from the Asian continent every year.
The Badminton Asia Championships enables badminton fans in Asia to see the world badminton legends in action.
For their huge contributions for the success of the Badminton Asia Championships, the Asian badminton body recognised the sponsors and the officials with a token of appreciation on the final day of the championships on Sunday.
On hand to give away the token of appreciation were some of the VIPs from Badminton Asia.
Badminton Asia's Chair of Technical Officials Mr Chua Soo Hock of Malaysia gave away the token of appreciation to Championships' Referees while Mr Ng Yoke Weng of Singapore, Badminton Asia's Chair of Finance, presented the token of appreciation to International Umpires and Line Judges.
Mr Bambang Roedyanto of Indonesia, who is Badminton Asia's Chair of Events, had the honour of presenting the token of appreciation to the hosts and local hosts - the Chinese Badminton Association, Wuhan Sports Center, Nanbeilekang and Enlio Sports.
"Our small token of appreciation is for the huge contributions they have made, both in financial contributions and kind.
Without them we will not be where we are today in making Badminton Asia Championships the best continental meet in the world," said Badminton Asia's Chief Operating Officer Mr Kenny Goh.
For the record, the Badminton Asia Championships has been held in Wuhan from 2015 and will also play host next year.
