Badminton Asia Umpires Appraisal Course in Mandalay

Thirteen candidates from 12 countries are currently in the ancient city of Mandalay, Myanmar are undergoing a Badminton Asia Umpires Appraisal Course to further upgrade their career as a badminton official.


It is an "upgrading" course from Badminton Asia Accredited Umpires to Badminton Asia Certified Umpires in the Asian body's pursuit to increase its pool of qualified umpires as the game continues to expand in Asia. 


Thailand is the only nation with two candidates while Bahrain, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, India, Iraq, Singapore, Hong Kong China, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam have one each.


The course began on Sept 30 and will end on Oct 7 - held in conjunction with the Badminton Asia Junior Under-17 and Under-15 Championships held at the Mandalar Thiri Multi-Purpose Stadium from Oct 3-7.


The course conductors for the Badminton Asia Umpires Appraisal Course are the experienced Mr. Sudhakar Vemuri from India and Malaysia's Ms. Yau Lin Na.


The successful candidates in Mandalay will be selected to attend the Badminton Asia Certification Course Wuhan, China in 2019.
