India had a disappointing outing in the recent Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Bangkok but the Indians will be out to make up in this year's Pembangunan Jaya Raya Badminton Asia Junior Championships in Bintaro, Jakarta next month.

The boys' team is led by 16-year-old Lakshya Sen, who featured for India in the Thomas Cup Finals.

The former junior world No 1 was named to the junior team after a selection trial.

The girls' team will be spearheaded by Vaishnavi Jakka Reddy, who was also in India's Uber Cup team in Bangkok.

The Badminton Asia Junior championships will be played in two categories.

The mixed team competition will be played from July 14-17 while the individual events are scheduled for July18-22.

Apart from Sen, the others in the boys' team are Amar Farogh, Kiran George, Manjit Singh Khwairakpam, Dingku Singh, Vishnuvardhan Goud and Sri Sai Krishna Podile, Edwin Joy, Orijit Chaliha, B. Sai Rohit and Akash Chandran.

Vaishnavi is the current number four in the world, with her big-match experience could be India's trump card in the Badminton Asia junior championships.

To her company are Akarshi Kashyap, another rising star in India, S. Kavipriya, Nafeesah Sara Siraj, Medha Shashidharan, Dipti Kuity, Simran Singhi, Ritika Thaker, K. Preethi and Shristhi Juppudi.

Simran and Ritika got a big boost for their Asian campaign after winning the women's doubles in the Mauritius International earlier this month.

It is the second senior title, having won the Ivory Coast International in 2016.

The Indian squad will train under coach Sanjay Mishra in Bangalore from June 25-July 11 before leaving for Jakarta.
