Champions China to play Japan in Asian Junior Mixed Team quarter-finals

Defending champions China face a tough match in the mixed team quarter-finals in the Pembangunan Jaya Raya Badminton Asia Junior Championships in Bintaro, Jakarta.
At the completion of the group matches at the Jaya Raya Sport Hall on Sunday, China, unseeded this year, finished second in Group A - behind top seeds South Korea.


In the quarter-final draw made a short while ago China were drawn to meet Group C champions Japan. Top seeds South Korea, who are also drawn in the top half will take on Group D runners-up Thailand for a place in the semi-finals.


In the bottom of the draw second seeds Indonesia topped Group D after their 3-2 win over Chinese Taipei in their final group match. The host drew Group B runners-up Singapore in the quarter-finals.


Group B champions Malaysia, who maintained their unbeaten record in the group with a 5-0 win over Singapore the fourth seeds, will face Chinese Taipei.


A repeat China-Korea clash is on the cards after playing each other in the Group A. In the group match the Koreans edged China 3-2.
