Executive Committee Meeting 2021
On the 19th of January 2021, at 1600hrs (4pm, Kuala Lumpur), the Badminton Asia Executive Committee (ExCO) Meeting was successfully held online. Badminton Asia (BA)’s virtual meeting was attended by the Executive Committee Board Members and the Office of Badminton Asia.
The ExCO meeting was conducted virtually by the Secretary General, Mr. Moosa Nashid and it began with President Anton Subowo’s Welcome Remark. President Anton stated in his opening speech that he was grateful for having this meeting, as it was a good way to kickstart the new year by providing Badminton Asia a roadmap and direction for the new year, and to give Members the opportunity to share their objectives for 2021.
In the ExCO meeting, Each Committee Board Member gave those in attendance an updated report on their achievements during the unprecedented 2020 year, and also their goals for this coming 2021. Several accomplishments were shared including the creation of online events, coaching education courses and forums as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. During these last few months, Badminton Asia’s online engagement on social media has increased, elevating BA’s profile globally yet maintaining BA’s Asian identity through the variety of content shared.
In addition, the Committee Members also discussed their future plans and agendas with the group. This consisted of proposing a better and more efficient communication structure of the organization with the Member Associations, as to better support them maximally through a clearer communication channel.
Furthermore a new 11-point scoring system was proposed, consisting of a best of five (3 games to win) match. This proposal has been approved by the ExCO. They have discussed and decided to push forward the new scoring system at the upcoming BWF election and Annual General Meeting. Badminton Asia is thrilled to initiate changes to make badminton more exciting, engaging and innovative as a top level sport.
