The lack of experience playing at a higher level showed on Chen Yufei as the newly crowned world junior champion Chen Yufei was shown in the exit in the second round in the USD700,000 Thaihot China Open Superseries Premier in Fuzhou on Thursday.

Yufei, fell 21-12, 21-19 in 59 minutes to compatriot and eighth seed Sun Yu ( Image Above) who now battles Denmark's Line Kjaersfeldt in the quarter-finals on Friday. The Dane rode to a 21-13, 21-15 win over Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin.

Yufei won the world junior title in Bilbao, Spain over the weekend, defeating Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-14, 21-17 in the final to end China's nine year drought in the event after Wang Lin won in 2007.

Sun Yu, a key member of the Uber Cup team and winner of the Singapore Open Super Series last year, has a string of runners-up finishes this year including the Japan Open, Australia Open and the Singapore Open.

Meanwhile world No 1 and Olympic champion Carolina Marin of Spain advanced to the quarter-finals with an easy 21-12, 21-13 win over Japan's Sayaka Sato  in 33 minutes.

The Spaniard will face Taiwan's Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying for a place in the last four. Tzu Ying knocked out Japan's Minatsu Mitani 21-15, 21-19.

India's Rio Olympics silver medallist P. V. Sindhu is also in the last eight after battling for one hour against fast improving China-born Zhang Beiwen who now dons United States colours.

The lanky Indian came back from a first set deficit to down Beiwen 18-21, 22-20, 21-17 to earn a quarter-final clash against China's hope He Bingjiao. The winner of the Japan Open and French Open carried too much power against Thailand's Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in the second set second after a tough first set to prevail 22-20, 21-15.

Korea's No 6 seed Sung Ji-hyun kept her hopes alive with a 21-9, 21-17 win over Taiwan's Chiang Mei Hui in 30 minutes. The Korean next faces Japan's Akane Yamaguchi who was taken the full distance before overcoming China's Shen Yaying 10-21, 21-10, 21-16 in a 58-minute encounter.
