The Best of Asia: Sitthikom Thammasin
Sitthikom Thammasin, Thailand’s 26-year-old men’s single’s badminton is one of Thailand’s leading badminton players. He is currently ranked #31 men’s singles in the BWF World Rank.
By just the age of 17, he had accomplished himself by winning the men’s singles title at the 2012 Singapore International Series. He’d then continue to embellish himself by being a part of the national team of Thailand that clinched the bronze medal at the 2019 Sudirman Cup.
His greatest achievement in the individual event was when he finished first at the BWF World Tour Super 300 2019 Macau Open by conquering China’s Shi Yu Qi, who was ranked #2 in the BWF World Tour Rank at the time.
With a recorded total of 26 tournaments, Sitthikom Thammasin was able to excel in many international tournaments. In just a year of 2018, He was able to achieve 3 bronze medals from 3 different championships.
On November 5, he earned himself a bronze medal at the Macau Open by crushing Indonesia’s Firman Abdul Kholik in the quarter-finals, but he was sadly overpowered by Lyee Hun-iI in the semi-finals. Within the same month, he was also able to finish 3rd place in the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships by defeating Parupalli Kashyap in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, he lost to Lu Guang Zu in the semi-finals. Just a few days after, Sitthikom Thammasin was able to, again, earning himself a bronze medal in the Gwangju Korea Masters 2018.
Sitthikom Thammasin continues to amaze the badminton community as well as his home country of Thailand, and we wish him a successful career ahead!
