The 'shrieks' silenced as Tzu Ying beats Olympic champion Marin again

The "shrieks" came to an end at the Hong Kong Coliseum in the women's singles semi-finals on Friday when Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying scored her second successive win over Olympic and world champion Carolina Marin of Spain.
Marin's 21-17, 14-21, 21-16 defeat means the World No 1 ended the year without winning a Superseries title this year. Marin was also beaten 21-10, 22-20 by Tzu Ying in the quarter-finals in last week's Thaihot China Open Superseries Premier in Fuzhou. It is only the third time Tai Tzu has beaten Marin in seven outings.
The Spaniard who is known for her screaming on court each time she scores a point, was warned by the umpire during her quarter-final match on Friday against Japan's Akane Yamaguchi which she won 21-7, 21-18.
Tzu Ying will face China Open winner P.V. Sindhu in the final. Sindhu, winner of the silver medal in the Rio Olympics in August won the China Open last week. It was her maiden Superseries title.
Sindhu broke the hearts of the local fans when she defeated her Hong Kong opponent Cheung Ngan Yi 21-14, 21-16 in 46 minutes.
However, Hong Kong may yet witness a first local winning the men's singles title when Angus Ng Ka Long defeated compatriot Hu Yun for a place in the final. Ka Long won 21-19, 21-7 in 30 minutes.
His opponent in the final is India's national champion Sameer Verma. The 22-year-old Indian stunned China Open winner and third seed Jen O Jorgensen 21-19, 24-22 in a 46-minute match and will be playing in his first Superseries final.
In the men's doubles semi-finals Japan's Takeshi Kamura-Keigo Sonoda upset second seeds Chai Biao-Hong Wei of China in three sets - winning the 61-minute match 21-15, 19-21, 21-17.
The Japanese face Denmark's No 4 seeds Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen who came through a straight sets 21-18, 21-11 win over Indonesia's new pairing Mohammad Ahsan-Rian Agung Saputro.
The women's doubles final is between China and Denmark. China's Huang Dongping-Li Yunhui edged compatriots Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifah 21-18, 22-20 while Denmark's Kamilla Rhytter Juhl-Christina Pedersen stormed past China's Bao Yixin-Yu Xiaohan 21-13, 21-11.
Indonesian pairs will battle it out in the mixed doubles final. Olympic champions Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir, who won the China Open last week beat Hong Kong's Tang Man Chun-Tse Ying Suet 21-13, 21-11 in 36 minutes.
Their opponents in the final are All-England chmapions Praveen Jordan-Debby Susanto who knocked out Koreans Choi Solgyu-Chae Yoo-jun 19-21, 21-18, 21-19 in 61 minutes.
